I worry about this statement. And, the more you are there to help him out of a crisis the more you are enabling him. I am old! I grew up with alcoholism. I will tell you this, 20 years ago my Dh got arrested for careless driving (he had been drinking, and spun out right in front of a cop), and he had my 2 yr old daughter in the car

. When he got to the police station, he was NOT over the legal limit so he was not legally drunk, but he needed a ride. The cops let his buddy take my daughter-which made me even madder! When his buddy called me to go get my hubby, I told him I would be right there to get my daughter but my DH could rot in jail. He had to get himself out. From that point on, he cleaned up his act, and he KNEW I would not get him out of a stupid situation. We have never had an alcohol related incident since.
