Oh my gosh. In my heart I would do the same, but then I didn't when I had the chance. One day Scruffs got out of the house I was house sitting (the gate didn't latch, I was going to get the mail). He ran out to me but since it looked like I was going home he ran ahead of me. I couldn't find him, so I ran down to my house and there he was, at my house.

The car came, Scruffs saw me and ran across the street. Right in front of the car. It stopped inches away from him. I just stood there. I didn't know what to do. It was dusk, I am so thankful that car stopped. It was a big wake up call to me that I need to be more careful. I forgot about that day, and now it just keeps replaying in my mind.
