I have heard that liver shunts are hereditary so I would like to know if their yorkies have had liver shunts are problems with the liver. My friend doesnt have that information anymore, I dont know why | okay if I get this right your pup's dam was owned by your friend and you do have the AKC papers. These papers will show the dam (presumably owned by your friend) with her full registered name. Usually the registered names of both sire and dam have the kennel name attached to the name. For example my boy Sir Razzle Dazzle full registered name is Rigair Sir Razzle Dazzle. You could do a google search on the names of sire and dam to see what comes up.
That' s my only thought
