| At what age can I tell what the adult colors of my Yorkie will be? Hello to all, I am new to YorkieTalk. I have been looking all over the internet for the information I needed/wanted about my Yorkies so I am very happy to find a site where I can talk to real people who have Yorkies themselves and I can learn from your experience. I have a 1 year old female named Tiffany and Santa Claus brought me a 12 week old male Yorkie named Romeo. Looking through the internet I have seen some beautiful Yorkies that are very light colored. Instead of the dark steal blue they are a very light steal blue. And instead of the dark tan they almost look blond. I know that is not the perfect AKC standard but I think they are so beautiful. Tiffany at one year has the darker standard colors but her coat on her back seems to be coming in the very light color at the roots. Romeo is already lighter then Tiffany was at 12 weeks and has some very light blue hairs on his head and his tan has blond areas in it. Looking at the puppies on this site I have seen several puppies his age that look just like him. Finally my question is, at what age will I know what their adult colors will be? Also, is their any signs to look for in puppies that give clues to what the adult colors will be? I was reading somewhere that the nutrition the puppy/dog gets determines the color of their coat. If this is true what is the best food to give them? I am currently giving them Science Diet small breed puppy food. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Patricia,Tiffany and Romeo |
