Here's a thread I started-
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...-progress.html

There's lots of good advice in there.

As Zak George would say... find Louis' "currency" aka his form of money, whether it be food, dog treats, toys, etc. Find what gets him most excited!

Trick training is really a lot of fun and I think it creates a great bond between you & your dog. I usually try to spare at LEAST 10 minutes a day practicing with Jackson but usually it's 30 minute sessions either in the morning or at night. He knows about 20 tricks now at 1 year old. Certain tricks are harder than others and take longer, others take him 5 minutes. He learned "crawl" in about 2 minutes simply by luring him across the floor with a treat. "Bang bang you're dead" took him a few weeks of practice every night for 5 mins or so and eventually he just got it.

Shake is usually a good second trick to teach. It's easier for most dogs (but of course for Jackson it wasn't lol) but you just keep grabbing their paw and say "shake" and eventually they do it on their own.

Lots of patience, trust, respect and TREATS! lol.

I would do a YouTube search for "kikopup" or "zakgeorge." They have good tutorials.

Good luck!
