It sounds to me like the two dogs are just establishing boundries, and as long as the other one walked away, it may never happen again.
The second dog did not challenge him, if he had then it would have been the second dog that was causing the problem, not the one with the bone.
The one with the bone gave the warning to the other, that he was overstepping his boundries and the other one said OK sorry and moved on.
