Actually it is quite normal to breed them twice in a row and then off the next heat cycle. The important thing is that the dam is healthy and getting rest in between breedings. Everyone has different breeding practices and only they know how their dams handle it.

I myself either breed every other heat cycle or two heat cycles in a row and then skip a heat cycle. When I skip a heat cycle it is close to a year that they have of rest.

Do a search and you will find more information on heat cycles and breeding.
