I think 1 or 2. I had 5 at one time plus I did yorkie rescue. It just got overwhelming. I loved them all and they each recieved plenty of attention but not what I really wanted for them. I recently stopped fostering and was able to place two of the more demanding rescue dogs that were miserable sharing attention and one would attack my son even while he was asleep in his bed. I realized she was not happy here. That left me with three and within this past 2 months I lost my oldest to lympomia leaving me with two and that is so much more managable. They are happier and are able to do more with me. When you have more they will usually adjust but really I think they would love to be the center of your world and that is so much eaiser to do with fewer furbabies. And of course as others mentioned vet, grooming and day to day expenses. |
