We have been having my daughter feed him and give him treats when he goes potty so he sees her in a positive light and are supervising all of their play time which is easy since it's been the holidays and I work from home as well. We went and got the little tennis balls and will try that as well as some other little toys. I'm not real sure about how much actual "play/puppy" time he had during his first 5 months, so he may just not know how to play.

There is a difference in the play bark/talk growl and the protective bark/growl and he definitely seems to be protective of me already. I do NOT want that. I don't mind a lap dog, but he's not just for me and I want him to attach to the WHOLE family. He did snap/bite (no broken skin) my daughter twice today when she came to pet him when he was in my lap and that is not acceptable, so I really need some good advice on how to break that behavior ASAP.
