By the time a pup reaches 9 months, his/her hair will be floor length. By then, the puppy hair reaches the floor & begins to break of.
I trim Mimi's hair around her paws just bc she steps on her own hair.
Other than that, I leave her hair long & flowing, since she doesn't tangle easily.
