Good for you starting your own kennel and identity. I hope you have fun and it will be exciting for you. There is so much to learn and this is a good place to start and ask questions. I am a newbie also and well have a long way to go. You will run into road blocks and setbacks, it just happens. I am learning to be patient and trying to learn all I can. I try to learn from those road blocks so I won't make the same mistakes. My advice is to go to shows and watch and try to help. I take pictures and hold dogs and at the same time I'm looking at who uses what. Equipment, products, brushes and also watch the process.
The hardest part is the setbacks....I suppose they happen with everyone but I have a couple of mentors who really keep me encouraged. I'm not a quitter so I'll except the good with the bad and try to walk away with a lesson learned. I am hooked so I'm prepared for it all, I hope!!!
As far as a kennel name.....mine is Stryker. It came to me as I was sitting in a hospital with my Dad. He was in the recovery room after by-pass surgery. He was groggy and flirting with the nurses. Talking to everyone that would listen. When he finally fell asleep I looked down to pray and thank the Lord for taking care of my Dad and I saw the name of the bed he was in....STRYKER was the brand. I was picking my puppy up the next day and I just knew that was it. He agreed.....he doesn't even remember talking to me about it. But I'll never forget that day or how I got the name.
