Relative to the "cons" of gum chewing...
My high school was a private, all girls school and we were not allowed to chew gum. Rationale? It was not lady-like. Our headmistress hated gum chewing and thought it made her pristine young ladies look like cows. We all snuck it anyway and as a result learned to be more discrete gum chewers. I have to admit it is pretty gross when you see someone knawing away with their mouth open and the gum cracking LOL... I think of her everytime I see someone like that and just laugh a bit to myself
