I am so sorry for your loss. If you are interested in adopting a rescue check out Petfinder.com for a rescue/shelter close to you. There are so many furbabies being turned in. It breaks my heart. You do need to be careful, though, that you are dealing with a legitimate rescue. Puppy millers sometimes pose as rescue organizations to get rid of their dogs. One way to tell this is if the doggie is spayed/neutered, has had a dental, and is up-to-date with its vaccinations. If you do adopt a rescue you need to remember that there is a great possibility that the doggie has some bad experiences. I went into my adopting rescues with the knowledge that I may face behavioral and medical issues. ~Joanne~
