Did you read the link on LP I posted on the first page? It explains the different grades. In more serious grades of LP, the knee stays out of place.

Try to get him into the vet as soon as possible. Your vet will probably prescribe a steroid to bring the inflammation down and have you restrict his activity for a few weeks.
