Default food allergies (ecoli)

I have a male that is 5 yrs old. In 07/08 my male was diagnosed with ecoli. My vet said no way. He started out weighing 5 lbs and lost to 2.3 lbs. We kept him alive with kaopectate, nutrical, and fortiflora, but he was continuing to melt away. He has been on a high-end dog food sence he was 8 weeks old. I've tryed other dog foods and it wasn't any better, but I recently aquired some venison and sweet potatoes. All of his symptons are gone and he is up to 4 lbs. I am going to try a grain free diet. It was a wonderful xmas presant. I hope this helps someone. Have a nice xmas
