Your story reminds me of when I lived in Denver (or Boulder?) and I found an injured bird...had NO IDEA what to do...ended up locating a wonderful woman who was called "The Bird Lady" -- I took the bird to her house - she had a crow living in her Living Room - his name was "Edgar Allan Crow" - lol!
I will never forget her, thanks for bringing that memory back for me
