I think it's IMPORTANT that puppies learn to play alone sometimes. We can't always be at their beck and call. Plus, it doesn't seem psychologically healthy for the dog or for the person to have a dog be completely dependent on a person for the dog's 24/7 entertainment. Also sometimes dogs just have dog interests they want to pursue. How fascinated can you get with nylon chew bone? I like watching the birds at the bird feeder, but there's a limit to my interest in it. Autumn leaves are fun, but when I've chased one, I feel like I've chased them all. It's nice to hear the squeak of a squeak toy once, but around about the ten thousandth time, my interest has waned. But a dog can give his FULL attention for a long time to any of these things. |
