We went through the same thing (not the bed part, he was outside at the time) with Willie. Our vet also removed the bad tooth right away. He didn't take any other teeth though. Willie hasn't had any further problems so far and this happened several months ago.

Not quite sure why your vet would want to delay the tooth extraction. I think I'd really question that decision. He may have a reason he hasn't explained sufficiently.
