Actually it's the other way around. Silkies came from a cross of Yorkies and Australian terriers. Don't know why I know that. I guess it's all that time spent watching dog shows.
I can't really tell the difference since they look so much alike -- same general shape and coloring.
No one has ever mistaken my Willie for anything other than a Yorkie but often I've been asked if Archie is a Silkie. Not only are they both registered Yorkies but also twins - litter mates. I guess it's because Archie looks bigger. |
