Default Christmas in the ER

Merry Christmas, YT! I spent my first Christmas (newlywed) with my new husband and my new puppy at the ER. Last night about 9ish, Mocha my 19 week old furbaby started throwing up. He had not been acting himself earlier in the day, my husband tried to convince me that he was okay and not to worry about him. I called the vet, she said to monitor him, btw he hadn't thrown up yet, and give her call back. Going against my better judgment, I didn't take him to the vet yesterday. He threw up 3 times last night, found out after the fact that my husband gave him a "few pieces of chicken" much to my disapproval, while I was in the shower . Called the ER vet and said, if he throws up again, bring him in. After throwing up, he ate and kept it down, I assumed he was feeling better.
To make a long story short, today he still wasn't acting himself. I continued to monitor him, knowing he wasn't well, but was also trying not to panic and over react. He slept almost all day and refused to eat or drink ! No panic yet, but was beginning to worry. Thinking maybe low blood sugar, gave him some syrup, he quickly ate that, and 20 minutes later he was throwing up everywhere. Needless to say, we headed to the vet after we were rescued from the snow drift due to our white "blizzardie" xmas. The vet examined him to discover that he has a bacterial infection that was detected in his fecal sample. Three hundred dollars a shot to stop vomiting later, he's on two antibiotics, both once a day for the next 7-8 days. He appears to be feeling better, thank goodness. This will be a christmas to remember! Hope yours was filled with lots of love, joy, and cheer!
