I need some advice.
For an update, Layla hadn't thrown up all afternoon, but at about 7:30 last night she started dry heaving and I carried her to her pad. She dry heaved for about 5 minutes and finally out came some brownish red foam and a few little clots of blood. I freaked out and took her straight to the emergency vet. When we got there we found out we'd need to pay an astronomical amount just to sit in the waiting room and it may be an all-night wait. I had no idea what to do. My boyfriend remembered his friend is friends with a vet and we were desperate so we called her just for an opinion if we should stay or if we could come home and take her in the morning. She said make sure she has water but don't feed her for the night, and keep an eye on her. If she got worse, take her back to emergency.
When we got home she was acting quite normal... a little more lethargic, but she did play a little bit and we gave her a bath so she didn't smell like puke, and she was rolling around on the bed trying to get dry, just like normal. She didn't drink very much, but she did go to her water dish once that I know of for a little water.
I'm going to take her in this morning, but I was wondering if I should try feeding her some more rice before we go? Maybe some really moist rice in case she's feeling dehydrated...
