I myself was on Prednisone for over two years and have only been off for four months. It is no fun for Latte either. I have a Bassett with the same problem and they wanted to put her on the steroid. She was only four at the time and prednisone causes liver and kidney damage(humans and dogs) The longer they are on it, the more problems. My doc said to just use Benadryl. You can give them 1mg per lb.(if you haven't already tried that) My Gizmo got into fire ants and I used the Benadryl on him. Works great. Puppy will get sleepy at first so play hard before giving to them.
