I agree I think that the best option would be to have her spayed, unless you are a breeder or exhibitor. Until she is spayed there is always the risk of accidental pregnancy and that can be VERY dangerous in yorkies, I am sure that you can find quite a few old threads on that. Any way I had Maddie spayed at 9 months and it was such a relief when it was done, you can also have and retained baby teeth pulled at the same time
I have heard of yorkies coming in to heat anywhere from 6-15 months, so there is alot of variance. They seem to feel more sleepy, and you will notice alot of licking. Sometimes you will see blood, other times they are really good at keeping themselves clean. Durring this I would just give her lots of love. I bought a cute little underwear set for Maddie. And make sure to keep her apart from unaltered males(it only takes a second)
As far as the anal glands go, not all dogs need them done. I have read that once you have them done you need to continue to do so. I would ask your vet, and they can do them if it is needed.
