We have three generations of picky eaters in our family. I was pretty bad as a child. I just didn't like the way some food like beans "squished in my mouth." Of course I have a lot of food allergies too and I think that has something to do with it. My oldest didn't eat anything except baby cereal and bread till he was about three then decided he liked potatoes and pizza. He stayed picky until he joined the army. They knocked it out of him. My grandson is going to be 20 in July and he has NEVER eaten vegetables. He is pretty good about eating meat and potatoes. He hates sauces though.
My suggestion is to relax. Your daughter is old enough to fix herself something to eat if she doesn't like what you have fixed for dinner. Sooner or later peer pressure will force her into trying new things.
If I had it to do all over again I think I would keep all snack foods out of the house though.
Is your boyfriend your daughter's father? If not he has no right to tell you how to raise her. You are in charge of her life and menu. Not him. Go with what works for you and her! |
