Puppy Pemmican is a new treat that I am toying with. I make a people version using homemade beef jerky, and a mixture of dried fruits and nuts that are ground up and mixed with peanutbutter and honey to act as a binder. The original version was a high density traveling food used by the Native Americans - it contained dried lean meat, pounded into a powder and mixed with fruits and nuts. Fat, (often buffalo) was used to bind the mixture together into little cakes. Generally peanutbutter and honey replace the rendered fat to make it healthier.

Awwww, thank you. Tell Hubby I'll see what I can do. I'm not sure if I have any more of the human version left and hubby isn't planning on a trip until late winter.....
