At work that is what I do, only not with corn starch. I just use my fingers to pull apart the mat and it usually helps to get it to a point where the comb will do the rest.
We also have a tool that has about 4 or 5 little curved blades in a comb-like fashion, and what it does is cuts through the matted area so when you brush or comb through it'll come out but it's not cutting the whole entire piece of hair out so the hair won't look uneven.
It's just called a de-matter but I am not sure where you could purchase one. |
