I am sure that everyone is doing what they can and maybe people are joining forces to stay warm and the best of human kindness is coming out. Do you know if the folks are taking turns grouping together in someones car to keep warm? At least maybe this way they can conserve the energy and take turns in someone elses car. I always try to have a blanket in my, although being out there for so long I don't know how much that would help.
I am here sending your hubby and all those folks stranded some good thoughts and prayers. I am also thinking of you as you must be frightened. I am sorry.
