Gosh you are brave taken both of them to the store but could I give you one suggestion
and maybe you are doing this but you said you pulled up his leash so I am assuming (yes, I know it makes an ..... out of me) but hopefully you have the leash attached to a harness and not a collar. Harness's on the little ones do two things, 1. it doesn't put pressure on their trachea's and damage them and 2. much easier to pick up in an emergency and not do any damage. Just trying to be helpful
