This is my whelping pen/nursery
I put the whelping bed in here and that is where the puppies stay til they are about 3 weeks old
When the puppies are starting to get around at about 3 weeks, I put towels in the section in the back left corner. This is their bedroom.
They learn very fquickly to leave their bed to potty. The pee pad is right outside the door, can't miss it. By the time they are old enough to leave the pen, they are well accustomed to using the pee pad.
The larger area on the right is their play area. I have a sliding door that closes this off at night, so mom can get away from the puppies and have her own space if she wants, she can jump over to get to the babies.
At 6 weeks old, I start putting them out with the other dogs, for short periods, gradually increasing the time they spend out of the pen.
I do not have a kennel. My dogs all live inside with me.
