There is a condition megaesophagus that causes vomiting in small dogs. The esophagus has a pouch at the bottom where it joins the stomach. The food goes into the pouch and after a period of time, is regurgitated and does not cause diarrhea, usually...
Edited: this condition is not found only in small dogs but large breeds as well...
