I think the main difference is puppymills are very high volume breeders. Breeding at each and every heat, dogs in cages 24/7, multiple breeds, etc. BYB usually breed the family pets, can also have multiple breeds. they both do it for money and don't do testing. Then I guess hobby breeders, do it b/c they love it, a hobby. most of the time, a hobby costs you money, not makes you money. BUT most millers and byb will call themselves hobby breeders.
