He was marking as soon as we brought him home at 13 weeks (probably because he shares the house with two male cats.) Speakers, table legs, base boards ... anything he could hike his leg next too were fair game! It's gotten better enough for him to not be confined to belly bands all the time, but I just couldn't believe how nonchalantly he looked at me as he was peeing on me!
Another odd habit of his is that he LOVES peeing on and in his crate. We've used it to our advantage at this point and have it surrounded by pee pads. During the day, when he has to go he walks right up to it and pees on it. Sometimes he gets in and it pees pointing outside of it. I clean it immediately because the odd thing is he also hangs out in there. It's a lot of cleaning, but I'm so happy to confine his peeing/pooping area to a designated inside space, especially now that it's getting cold out.
I guess he's just an odd one when it comes to pee habits!! |
I would REALLY discourage this one! He is learning to be a "dirty dog", there will be no end to the cleaning, for you. He won't learn not to do it!
If you want a "leg-lift" place, use a large pop bottle, filled with sand or water, wrapped in a p-pad, on a p-pad...
If his crate is plastic, it may have absorbed the scent, and may have to be removed, or replaced, to stop this one!
Good luck...
