What book are you reading? If you are not planning to show your yorkie then you can ignore the stuff about "wrong coloring" because for companion yorkies there is no such thing and actually the tri-color yorkies called Biewers command a higher price tag than the traditional black and tan at this moment because there aren't as many of them.
As for the timidness and biting....I would make sure you socialize her both with humans and other dogs as much as possible. Take her to the small dog park, enroll her in obedience classes at Petsmart, join a yorkie meetup group in your area, etc.
