I think that getting a hamster would be great. But get a male because that is what my Brother has and it seems to never byte at all. But I dont reccomend rats, because my friend had a pet rat and it would pull clothes through its cage and chew holes in them. But I like hamsters. Try to get a glass cage though, like a fish tank, because they seem to like to chew the metal bar cages, and thats not always good. Hope that this helps.
