She's a sweetie. She needs time. She's scared and confused. Bet she'll like her new home lots more than the old one once she gets over the fear of the unknown.
Chicken soup for the dog lovers soul is a good food; Innova Evo is also good. There are several that are good. The thing is you need to know what she was being fed before. Since she is 6 now, it may be difficult to get her to eat something different. The only way to try to change food is to change it gradually by mixing the two slowly at first.
She will bond with you in time. She's not used to children, so I cannot guess how she will react toward them. They may scare her. It's hard to say, because it depends a good deal on her personality. The children will need to learn to be soft-spoken and gentle around her and not be rowdy and that may in time win her over.
Hip chips are a good small treat for them, too. They love soft, cuddly beds that are in a quiet place if they aren't used to their current environment.
