Does anyone know the name of a feline disease that can cause several sinus infections throughout the life of the cat?

My cousin's kitten was just treated for a severe, severe ear infection (almost required surgery) and a really bad sinus infection. The vet said that there is some feline disorder she has that will cause lots of sinus infections in the future, but of course I wasn't with my cousin and he doesn't remember what it's called. I want to do research on it so we know what to expect in the future and how to help her when she gets sick and things we can do to prevent these infections, etc.
