did they check urine as well as before anesthesia i do urine and blood work and kidney issues would show up in urine too -- Was there protein in urine? I would not feed a yorkie high protein food due to issues with liver with many. Fish is good as it is a highly digestible protein so hopefully that will help and all will be ok
I definitely agree it is food related as your dog is too young to have kidney issues i would think
