How about trying one of those grass potty pads. I am in the process of potty training my 10month old (very long process) and that is what I use when I am at work. My little guy uses the grass potty pad successfully when confined to the laundry room. However, once I let him have free run of the house (with me watching his every move) he won't go near the grass potty in the laundry room.
