The above might work. I've been doing a lot of reading, and this seems to work with my little guy: Yell "Ouch" really loud. Supposedly, when dogs play with other dogs they naturally nip and bite (wolf play). The "Ouch" has to be very startling to the dog. With Ruger a few ouches and he will start licking me instead. Every bite, most of which are very soft, get an ouch.

IMHO the problem is even though Ruger bites very softly, if he does this to a child or another person who quicly pulls back I'm sure they will get scratched at minimum. I also try to pet him around the mouth gently giving him the opportunity to bite me so I can work on this till he stops completely. It is getting better.

BTW, I have no idea what I'm doing (my first dog) but I've been using every gentle approach to training I can come up with
