Edie will never catch anything, no matter how hard she tries. Why? Because she barks like crazy as she is running toward the potential prey! She has not learned that stealth is important in hunting. And I am glad about that!
My Westie, Breezy, caught a pigeon once. I was just getting ready to start my first day at a new job. I glanced in the back yard (we have a doggie door so the girls can go outside during the day) and I saw feathers flying and my little white dog covered in pigeon blood! oh the horror!!!
I ran to the doggie door and closed it so she could not get in the house. Then I ran outside and got a shovel, and shoveled the dead bird into the trash can. Then I hosed Breezy off. Finally, I brought her into the house and gave her a bath. YUCK. |
