It would KILL me to do this to my dogs, but if you find it necessary - and sometimes it IS! ...

Continental has the most animal friendly transport around. No one can guarantee live arrival (shoot! even YOU may die on the flight!) but all animals fly in climate controlled pods, in special areas of the cargo hold. If they're on the tarmac between flights in 100*+ weather, they're safe and airconditioned. If they're on the tarmac in -50* weather, they're safe and heated. Of course, the best way is non-stop, but if you can't do that, then you don't have to worry about temperature control between flights.

I just had to research the cost for my boss ... to ship between Tampa and Las Vegas, for an animal between 10 and 50 lbs., the cost is $199 + airport fees. It's expensive, but it's safe.

We're dealing with little dogs that can be shoved under the seat in the cabin, provided the in-cabin animal limit hasn't been reached. But folks with larger dogs - even the teapot Yorkies! may not have that option.
