My little guy won't eat out of a metal bowl because when his tag hits it he gets scared. He likes a flat little dish. Also a metal bowl sometimes will scare a dog when he looks into it they see a reflection. I had a Rotti once that was like that. Try a different bowl it really might make a big difference.
