During my pup's check-up last Friday, the fecal sample tested positive for tapeworms. The vet gave us a choice of pills vs. an injection. I asked which one worked the best, and he said that the injection did, so that's what we did. She didn't seem to have any side affects from the injection, no big deal really.

The best way to prevent tapeworm infestation is to avoid fleas (they get the tapeworm by eating a flea that is infected). My girl must have picked up the tapeworm before I got her, because she definitely doesn't have fleas, nor have I ever seen any on her. I have her on Sentinel, which controls fleas and worms (all the common ones except for tapeworm).
