I absolutely love the central CA. coast and would not live anywhere else unless it was on the
Mediterranean in Spain. (My most favorite place in the world). I can see snow anytime by driving only 35 miles from here up Figueroa Mt. GORP - Los Padres National Forest - Recreation Areas

Southern CA. is just too hot for me. From my area north is beautiful!!

I grew up in Charleston, WV. and we had lots of snow every winter. Then married and moved to Cheyenne, WY. for three years. LOTS of snow. Then to Madrid, Spain for three years and was in love. Then to Orlando, FL. for 7 years and nearly froze in the winter. People who had orange groves had to put smudge pots (or choofa pots) by the trees to keep them from freezing. Those winters were bone chilling and felt colder than the WY. winters.
Then moved to SD. Again, lots of snow, then to ND, and lots of snow, but temps. in the winter months were unbearable!! I've seen it at 30 below with 100 below wind chill. I'll NEVER go back to that horrible state!! Then we moved to CA. in 1985 and I still feel I'm on a permanent vacation. We dearly love the CA. coast and the red wood forrest. Beautiful! I never want to live in snow country, but may visit it.
