Yorkie bladder stones. Introducted RAW food today but wo't eat. Hi there,
Please help!
I have a 5.6 lb yorkie, 5 years old. He had about 3 seziures in his life time (others possibly that i have not been present for), the sezuires were very mild although i was concerned so i brought him to the vet. He has always been a picky, small eater. Loves treats and table food though, but not dog food???
My yorkie has been diagnosed with bladder stones, mostly likely calcium oxalate. The ones that require surgery.
He is also a bit underweight. So before the surgery vet said to get wieght up. He is on Hills medical preventative which he did eat but now has seemed to turn his nose away from.
We got this little guy tested for liver shunts, bile acids, mildy elevated but not out of the morn something like int he 30s. Did the whole thing costing me over $2000.00 with all testing and bladder bacterial testing. All came back, healthy liver, no shunts and no bacteria, simply a bladder stone.
So now that it has been 2 months since being diagnosed, his weight has not gone up from his 5.6 lbs.
I bought raw food patties and introduced it this morning. I first cooked a portion up to 75% and he didnt like it.
Then i took the same portion andother piece fresh and gave it to him raw did not like it.
What do i do! This little guy needs to gain weight and i am afraid he will get sick.
