I have imported once from south america without any problems, i did know the breeder before hand and all went smooth, the customs clearance is time spending but it is no big deal. The "broker" is optional for someone who can go there and clear customs themselves.
"Maggicgeanie" posted a thread about it not too long ago and i think she imported one already and all went smooth. If you look on the new england you will find the thread i am talking about.
