i completely understand what you are going through as i have spent 20k in vet bills plus and it cost me 10k to get my dog right that had a pancreatic attack and that was not even with banfield it was a private vet - He was two years old and the vet kept saying i think he is getting a tumor so i flipped out called around found the best internal medicine specialist in the county and got him in for 24 hr care that night. I spent 3k with the vet before i picked him up as he had relapsed from pancreatitis after a week due to the wrong food he was fed. He was hospitalized and i had to pay another 2k repeating some tests like an ultrasound that was done that day they made me duplicate it. I was so distraught as i knew nothing of groups or forums at the time and felt all alone but i did know he was in 24 hr care at the best facility with internal medicine. He then came home relapsed with a bacterial infection which they can get from a severe bout of pancreatitis so went back in another 2k and then came home was home and doing well on a food so we thought bc the food made him itch we switched and two months later he was back in the hospital - i was furious saying is he going to be this way for the rest of is life as this is costing me a fortune - finally i did research joined yahoogroups and read everything to do with pancreatitis and ibd, etc but i was getting really mad and the ims knew it and they wanted to scope him and i said no let's try purina ha and then for 4 years he has been great but it was getting to a point that i was not sure what i would do and luckily i had some good commission months. Alot of it is trial and error and there is a reason they call it practicing medicine as they are practicing on you and me. This is when i learned to educate myself as i thought i was going to be broke if i did not as everytime i go in it is at least 100-300 out the door for anything. DD hurt her leg $500 for xray and medicine, demi bloody poop $300 with no meds and is fine stress colitis, dd 7k plus due to allergies and specialists trying to get her better, $1200 for dentals. It is just nuts the cost of care and had i known it I would have been smarter about it all but i have learned after 20k+ and i feel after joining 55 dog groups and 4 forums i have learned alot and i try to spend time helping others with what i have learned because i feel sorry for people as i know how it feels. I think it is really sad how the system all works. I have a pet store pup, backyard breeder and a rescue and the backyard breeder york is the most unhealthy of them all sadly -
