Her little body was shutting down but the bill would have been a minimum of $3000, which we didn't have. It's extremely hard and it broke our hearts to give her away.

That being said, I know you've spent a lot of money on your dog previously and the current bill is very high. If you've already signed her off, I don't think there is a way to get her back, especially if someone has already claimed her as their own. You know she has this disease and it probably won't be the last episode she has, so it really might be best if she goes to someone who can afford it if the case arises. I'm not trying to be mean, but sometimes we have to do what's best for the animal. I've been in your situation and understand how hard it is, so don't think I'm passing judgment... I'm just trying to help and to be honest. If you can maybe some how borrow the money from family/friends/bank or apply for Care Credit, then maybe that will help.
I agree- you know how incredibly sad I am for you- pancreaitis can be hard to diagnosis if the vet is not looking for it. Vomiting and lethargy can be symptoms of many things, in your vet's defence- they probably just started with the most common and worked their way up when things weren't getting better.

Sadly, I think now that you have signed her over- there aren't many ways to get her back. I see what you are saying about the vets and the animal hospital, but I don't think either of those things will come into play in trying to get Ava back. I guess all you can do now is be content in knowing that she is being taken care of- which she is. And know what to do and what not to do in the future.
