Hello Deb
I'm really sorry to hear about your husband CJ. Don't lose hope because Miracles do happen.
My sister had Cancer of the Bone Marrow and with treatment she was able to live two additional years and that was in 1992, she was 42. Since then, they have come a long ways as far as treatments. Keep thinking positive.
I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in December of 2004 and was given 5 days to live and I'm still fighting the battle. With Chemo and Radiation my Cancer went into remission for about 4 years until last October 2008. My Pet/Cat scans came back positive for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma of the complete Lymphatic System. The Board of Doctor's at City of Hope couldn't understand why this happened. It's very unusually. They had two solutions, either stem cell of the bone marrow or Chemo. I thought about it long and hard and decided to take Chemo. I will be taking it every 6 months from now on. Remember, their is always hope and new treatments coming.
Chemo drugs do help but leave you with other medical conditions you really need to follow up with.
Just a suggestion, I've been on B 12 injections once a week for years and I can't help but feel this has helped with pain management. Ask your doctor what he thinks about letting CJ taking this for awhile. It sure helps, I have problems with pain meds and can only take tylenol.
For now, I just take one day at a time, because that's all that everyone really has. Enjoy life for what you have now and don't let tomorrow spoil the day you have... It's a gift, live it to the fullest.
I know the family is really upset and wish I could do something to help. I'll keep you all in my prayers and hope the treatment will be successful.
Prayers and Hugs for CJ and the Family
