I'm pretty amazed so far. I've had Ruger 3 days now, and when I let him out he goes and I praise him. I take him out like the books say: every time he eats, morning, before bed, try to go out every couple of hours at least, etc. Very few accidents in the house.

But, how long before he lets me know when he has to go? My girlfriend, who gave me the dog and has a Westy, said he may be doing that now as I seem to sense when he has to go out.

I think the goal is to walk him after meals and hope that's it, but I also know there will be times he has to go more than that. Will he let me know, and usually how?

I'd hate for him to turn out like my girlfriend's dog. She never trained him, and while he doesn't go in the house he lets you know when he has to go, even at 3 in the morning, which happens almost daily. Other than that he's a great dog.
